Theory on EVPs

Most of us have wondered why our ears can't hear EVPs but our recorder can! What do you think about the following theory?

Instead of the EVPs being sound waves that our ears can hear, what if they are electromagnetic waves being induced into the recorder's circuitry? This would explain why we can never hear them but a recorder picks them up. Examples of this happening: static noise when you pass under power lines; lightning; arcing. All of these produce electromagnetic waves which pass through the recorder without passing through the speaker.

When these electromagnetic waves are induced into the circuitry they are amplified right along with the electromagnetic waves that the microphone produced. The output from the recorder would be both signals. Let us hear from you about this theory.

Where to find ghosts?

Noted psychi James Van Praag appeared today on the popular morning show "The View." Whether you believe or not in this psychic's ability to communicate with the departed, he still offered some interesting information. He explained that there are two types of spirits - those that are earthbound and those that have truly passed over into the light. He stated he cannot communicate with earthbound spirits which are those that for some reason haven't crossed over due to a variety of reasons including unfinished business, worry for loved ones, etc. He stated he does communicate with those who truly passed over onto the other side and that they are with us everyday. The most interesting point was about earthbound spirits or what we may refer to ask ghosts. He said they are attracted by fear and grow strength from that energy. Wherever you find a place full of fear such as hospitals, prisons, courtrooms, etc. you usually find earthbound spirits. They usually have a negative energy around them as well. So if you want to do some ghosthunting, perhaps you should look in areas of the living rather than the dead!

Ghost in the House?

My daughter called and asked me to help her explain an incident which occurred in her house today. She lives in a house where paranormal activity has taken place many times. I always encourage everyone suspecting ghostly activities in their homes, office or on their property to be absolutely certain no natural explanation is possible. She had already looked into every possible answer.

After she came home from work today, a bookcase had been moved approximately two feet away from the wall, where it always stays. Underneath the bookcase a floor vent had been removed and was found across the room upside down. The hole was there, but uncovered.

Can any of you think of an explanation for this event. She does have cats, and while I guess it is possible for one of them to get their paw stuck down in the vent and drag it across the room, I don't see how anyone could have moved the bookcase except my daughter. She lives alone and does not see any signs of unwanted entry into the house. Your input will be appreciated!

We're Not So Different From Them

The Subject of Hauntings

The very fact that you are reading this blog site indicates your interest in the subject of spirits, ghosts, haints, shadows, or whatever name you assign to those entities whose presence is not made of flesh and blood, but wisps of fog, a fleeting shadow, or a soft whisper in our ear. History has written of them from the beginning of recorded time, these shapes which appear to the living for various reasons. For example, an apparition (called a harbinger) may appear to issue a warning, or to soothe a distraught loved one, or to linger on the earthly plane, for his or her own reasons, to be witnessed by people who are able to “see” them. Are they really the energy, which remains after the physical body has died? Did they suffer a violent, sudden death, and don’t know they are dead? Do they have unfinished business to settle? Are they afraid to move on because of religious beliefs? Are they unable to leave a loved one, or a home? We don’t know, but in every country and religion, most people believe in some form of life after death. It cannot be scientifically proven at this time, but those of us fascinated by this question set our goals to establish such facts. Do we create our own reality, as some scientists believe, thereby experiencing “proof” of the afterlife in order to satisfy our personal needs? Or are “they” really there? History of Electronic Voice Phenomena

Believe it or not, famed inventor Thomas Edison was one of the first people to experiment with EVP. In the early 1920s, his mother was critically ill, and Edison began trying to devise a method of speaking to her after her death. In the midst of his planning, his mother died. With his assistant, Dr. Miller Hutchinson, Edison began construction of a device that he would later call the Thomas Edison Communicator. He wrote, “If our personality survives, then it is strictly logical or scientific to assume that it retains memory, intellect, other faculties, and knowledge that we acquire on this Earth. Therefore … if we can evolve an instrument so delicate as to be affected by our personality as it survives in the next life, such an instrument, when made available, ought to record something.” Unfortunately, Edison did not complete his invention before his death in 1931. Others have since completed his invention to the best of their abilities, but it isn’t really known how he truly intended the finished product to work. In 1959, a simple task of taping birds’ songs led to an unexpected odyssey of EVP. A Swedish film producer named Friedrich Jürgenson, when playing back the bird calls, was startled to hear a voice say something about “bird voices in the night” – and even more startled when he heard his own mother’s familiar voice saying, “Friedrich, you are being watched. Friedel, my little Friedel, can you hear me?” This made a complete believer out of Jürgenson, and he devoted much time after that first discovery to recording EVP. He recorded hundreds of voices, played his tapes at international press conferences and eventually wrote two books: Voices from the Universe and Radio Contact with the Dead. His research and enthusiasm for the subject of EVP earned him the title “The Father of EVP” after his death. (Author Rita Templeton @ Fine Tuning.Com)
